LaDonna Crain, M.Ed. has been a dedicated member of the Mathews County Public School system since 1999. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Education from Christopher Newport University and her Master of Education in School Library Science and Information Technology from Mansfield University.

Mrs. Crain began her career teaching second grade for two years before serving as the Media Specialist at Mathews Elementary School for 12 years. She later held the same position at both Thomas Hunter Middle School and Mathews High School for five years and currently serves as the Media Specialist at Mathews High School.

In addition to her work in education, Mrs. Crain made a lasting impact as the Mathews High School Girls Tennis Coach for 17 years. Under her leadership, the team ranked among the top four in the state for 14 of those years. She was named Region 1A Coach of the Year 14 times and guided her team to win the first Virginia High School League (VHSL) Tennis State Championship in Mathews High School history. In recognition of her outstanding coaching achievements, she was inducted into the Mathews High School Hall of Fame.

Mrs. Crain has raised five children in Mathews County, and her grandchildren now attend Mathews County Public Schools. Outside of her professional career, she enjoys reading, playing tennis, helping her husband run Sea Tow of Lower Chesapeake, boating and fishing in the Bahamas, the Florida Keys, on the Chesapeake Bay and spending time with her family.
